THEm FEELS.

We love film photography. The nostalgic vibe to it. The feel of it. It is as if we are being transported back in time, a time of youth and innocence. A time when we had no fear, no worries, no burdens. A time of only good memories while growing up. Analogue photography never seems to go out of style, and long may it never.

Yu Jun + Choong Kai // Joo Chiat Katong on Film

Half-jokingly, I mentioned to Yu Jun and Choong Kai that I will butcher their names at the start of the session, because my tongue’s going to be so twisted calling their names. Thankfully, it did not happen and the start of pre-wedding shoot definitely needed no ice breakers. Yu Jun and Choong Kai were so comfortably chaotic being themselves and it made Dexter and my job that much easier.

Ended the shoot at i12’s Cold Storage because we were getting some stuffs - might as well right - but we got scolded off by a grumpy lady, who went “NO TAKING PHOTOS HERE!!”. I mean - couldn’t she have told us in a nicer way? Ah wells. The only blip of the day.

Esther + David // Katong on Film

With each passing day, the love for film photography sessions in the 35mm format at night grows fonder. I have only ever done a handful, but there’s something just so mesmerizing about the night and the lights that engulf it. It is not easy, for sure, because of how constantly we have to look for bright enough lights to shoot at.

Being versatile about it is key. Also, being deliberate about it is essential.

However, the spontaneity of the couple and how they respond to you or going with the flow, is of the most importance. Such as the groom deciding on going ahead with the pre-wedding shoot, even when he spilled mocha all over his clothes.

Joey + Kun // Siglap Katong on Film

Another Wong Kar Wai inspired pre-wedding session for Joey and Kun as they really loved the vibes of what I previously did for another couple. It is all the rage these days and I was more than happy to photograph them in the same mood and manner. Truth be told, I have never watched a single movie of his HAHAHAHA.

Besides introducing us to a extremely delicious ba chor mee during the shoot, Joey and Kun were gorgeously wonderful throughout the session and what an amazing shoot it was. I shall let the images do the talking.

Marie + Leslie // East Coast on Film

Photographing Marie and Leslie on film at East Coast just gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. When I received the photos after development, my first thought was - wow some of these photographs gave off a very Japan/Japanese vibe. Maybe it was their carefreeness, maybe it was the colours, or maybe it was a little of everything. The feeling was as warm as the weather was… and that immediately brought me right back to Singapore lol.

Mu En + Jon // Central Business District (CBD) & Studio on Film

Mu En and I have been good wedding industry friends since we met a couple of years ago. As you may or may not know, she is a prominent make up artist! When she approached me to photograph her fiance and herself for their pre-wedding session as well as actual day celebration, of course, without any hesitation, I said yes. It is always a humbling experience to be photographing a fellow vendor, and I would choose to do this for an eternity - if it is actually even possible.

Shu Qing + Ray // Chinatown on Film

Probably Levin and my most ambitious film session yet - because of how much effort it was from the couple, who wanted to replicate the 80s wedding vibe. From selecting a wedding dress/suit from that era, to sourcing for a vintage car, it was really thoroughly thought out. We also had the chance to photograph at one of the most popular dim sum places in Singapore, Red Star Restaurant, and kept to the theme.

So glad to be a part of this.
