Them Feels

We love film photography. The nostalgic vibe to it. The feel of it. It is as if we are being transported back in time, a time of youth and innocence. A time when we had no fear, no worries, no burdens. A time of only good memories while growing up. Analogue photography never seems to go out of style, and long may it never.

A brand new product (Film + Digital photography inclusive of Make-up and Follow Through) we launched recently includes a make-up artist of the couple’s choice to tag along the entirety of the shoot after the initial make-up is done and I must say, it was so much better for us photographers as well as the couple. For them to look fresh and proper for each curated photo especially on film, as well as for us photographers to deliver the ideal shot each time.

Really loved what we managed to deliver for I+A!

Vivian + Gary // Old Chinatown on Film

Recently we have been receiving quite a fair bit of enquiries for film pre-weddings. There seems to be plenty of love for Wong Kar Wai films and how couples who enquired wanting to replicate a similar vibe via the film pre-wedding shoot. I always give a heads up disclaimer that not everyone would be comfortable posing with the ‘models/actors’ poses but somehow there would be couples (without prior experience) that will take to the poses like fish to water. Here’s Vivian + Gary’s set.

Janice + Xuan De // Orchard Road on Film

I have always wanted to photograph Orchard Road in the morning light and finally had the opportunity to do so, with J + XD. Although I did not pick the spots within Orchard to shoot at, Dexter and I still had fun conjuring these fun images for the couple.

Isabel + Terence // Fullerton Bayfront and Chinatown on Film

The shoot began interestingly as the rain pour down on us even before we reached the Esplanade, our meeting point. Thankfully we managed to get a bit of a respite and proceeded to go about our day. Stop start, but enjoyable nonetheless. I really enjoyed this session and loved how the pre-wedding images on the 35mm turned out. It was a first too, shooting film at the Fullerton Bayfront!

Yu Jun + Choong Kai // Joo Chiat Katong on Film

Half-jokingly, I mentioned to Yu Jun and Choong Kai that I will butcher their names at the start of the session, because my tongue’s going to be so twisted calling their names. Thankfully, it did not happen and the start of pre-wedding shoot definitely needed no ice breakers. Yu Jun and Choong Kai were so comfortably chaotic being themselves and it made Dexter and my job that much easier...

Esther + David // Katong on Film

With each passing day, the love for film photography sessions in the 35mm format at night grows fonder. I have only ever done a handful, but there’s something just so mesmerizing about the night and the lights that engulf it. It is not easy, for sure, because of how constantly we have to look for bright enough lights to shoot at.

Being versatile about it is key. Also, being deliberate about it is essential.

However, the spontaneity of the couple and how they respond to you or going with the flow, is of the most importance. Such as the groom deciding on going ahead with the pre-wedding shoot, even when he spilled mocha all over his clothes.

Joey + Kun // Siglap Katong on Film

Another Wong Kar Wai inspired pre-wedding session for Joey and Kun as they really loved the vibes of what I previously did for another couple. It is all the rage these days and I was more than happy to photograph them in the same mood and manner. Truth be told, I have never watched a single movie of his HAHAHAHA.

Besides introducing us to a extremely delicious ba chor mee during the shoot, Joey and Kun were gorgeously wonderful throughout the session and what an amazing shoot it was. I shall let the images do the talking.
