2025 - A Year In Review

It’s that time of the year again.

2025 has indeed been an interesting year. I thought I had started with a bang, only to fall ill with a multitude of weird sicknesses ranging from going deaf in one ear temporarily, to getting sticky eyes that cannot be opened for weeks. Thankfully, I recovered from all of it although it gave me the needed kick required to get myself fit. I got myself enrolled into a gym (for the first time in my entire life I might add) and even started off with a physical instructor. Those who know me will know that it was a miracle for that to even happen. Never looked back, physically felt so much better than ever before (but still fat la lmao). Personally, I had a record number of photowalks organised with Scenes from the Street Collective. I am always encouraged when I see fellow members volunteer to organise walks too and it is always fantastic to get inspired by fellow photographers’ work and meet new friends during these walks - even though I am not the most social person in all honest truth haha.

Reflecting on weddings this year, it is one filled with challenges. I would say weddings never “fully recovered” from the pandemic schedules and instead, doubled down on the fanfare. As much as I would like to document couples truly enjoying their day without the bloat, as they should, I do understand that they would need to please their stakeholders too *cough* parents and other senior relatives*. Of course, scrolling the mad world of social media reels does not help either. However, this year also saw me photographing many fellow creatives, either photographers or in a similar industry. This probably meant what I am putting out there is ok, and that the like-minded can relate to what I would want to produce for them, especially in the age of mainstream social media trends.

Truthfully, I have been enjoying this year’s somewhat enforced breaks, and I thought that quality and productivity has increased for the couples who have booked e.g. getting a high level of energy during their day as well as receiving their edited photos earlier than scheduled. I think I could get used to this for the next year.

“Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes, They call me on and on across the universe

Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letterbox, They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe

Nothing's gonna change my world”

As I end the year with the Beatles song “Across The Universe” - a song about finding peace with oneself, nothing is going to stop me from documenting real and honest stories for the couples who truly understands going forward.

Let's friggin’ go, 2026.
