A quick shoot around Raffles during Covid

The way the Singapore government has handled the Covid situation has impressed many, here and around the world. Several countries are reporting second or even third waves of Covid infections and deaths, but here we are in the heart of the central business district (CBD) in Singapore, happily snapping away.

As it was slightly drizzling, I had decided ‘Reflections’ to be the theme of the day. I thought I had it easy.

I had Alwin, X-photographer Ivan and Levin with me that day.

All equally Fuji mad.

I thought I would have it easy, already visualising reflective puddles of water and what nots. In the end, none of my reflective puddles made it except selfies. And yes. there were plenty of selfies. It was national Narcissist Day after all. Okay no such thing.

The drizzle didn’t help either.

Reflections can mean so many things. A reflection of your older self. A reflection of your inner self. A reflection of your true self. Your ego. Your alter-ego even. It could even be a reflection of your perceived reality. When I was photographing, all these came to mind. I mean, how many even reflected upon the fact that our government had done such a fantastic job of keeping Covid tucked away compared to some other countries?

It was another fun day shooting out, and I wish to find the time to do this more often. Till then, wedding season beckons! Please, hopefully no more postponements.
