Here's to 3 full years of full-time wedding photography.
April 2022 marks the third year I have been photographing weddings as a full-time job. What began as a leap of faith in 2019, after 10 years of corporate slaving, turned into a real passion and the belief that I could photograph 'nice' photographs for couples looking to celebrate their special day.
In the 3 years, I have learned more about myself than I ever could. The way I document weddings evolved into more of well, documenting, than rather just taking 'nice' pictures. Embracing the mess as I would put it. Life's not perfect, just like in a marriage - so I'm boldly putting it out there - your wedding shouldn't too. It is about enjoying the journey (yes yes as cliche as it sounds). The joy and anguish of putting your wedding together, of experiencing it (drunk or otherwise), and probably leaving only photographs to remember the day by. It is about remembering how your room looked, before moving out. Remembering how your parents felt when they placed the veil over you. Remembering how your heart thumped when you walked out to an audience clapping. It is about these incredible, unmentioned memories.
In the 3 years, I have enjoyed photography more than ever before - but more importantly - I have enjoyed meeting so many of you that have similarly taken the journey with me, albeit on different paths. I will be eternally grateful for the trust my couples/you guys have placed in me. It still awes me that some of you peeps book me without even having met me in person or on Zoom but telling me that you 'knew' me through the images and long-ass captions I've put up. Just, wow 😭. I thank every one of you. It has been nothing short of amazing. I am very, truly humbled.
To 2021, while it has been stop start - you have been great to me on the work and personal front. Thank you. And I hope 2022 will be even better for the growing team at Bottled Groove Photography. For those that have even read to this point - omg thank you? Hahahaha. We'll see you guys next year! THANK YOU LA.
