Once we read about Eugene’s photojournalistic philosophy, we knew that he was the one. What we wanted wasn’t the grand posey shots that made us look like the models that we weren’t, but a documentation of events as they happened and people as they were, captured with an eye for the beauty of simple, everyday joys. That was what Eugene offered over many other options that we explored - his eye for the same kind of beauty that we wanted to record, remember, and relive.
For our pre-wedding shoot, it was like a fun day out (except we woke up extra early for it) - Eugene made us immediately comfortable with his funny questions and blasting out music and casual conversation. The two hours flew by and we got some super creative shots from Eugene, giving a familiar area (downtown SG) a fun and refreshing twist. We loved the influence of his street photography background in the choice of framing and composition. As for the actual day, Eugene was a calm and reassuring presence amidst a lot of stress and uncertainty, responding in a super collected manner to anything (and we mean anything!!) thrown his way, and letting us relax and have fun when we got a few minutes to have a photoshoot with our wedding party. He didn’t make us re-do things just to get the ‘perfect’ shot, but instead gently guided us when we weren’t sure and just captured moments as they played out (including a small moment when the bride tripped lol which are the funny things that make a wedding your own!).
This is all not to mention the pre- and post-photoshoot care by Eugene and the lovely Erin as well - prepping us well, running through the plan with us, and sending preview shots on the same day of the shoot and then sending the full suite of edited photos in such a timely manner. And the mix of photos was just nice - enough standard photos expected of a wedding to make our parents and families extremely happy; and also enough glimpses of moments that we missed in the hustle and bustle of the wedding. We also got so many compliments from our friends on Eugene’s professionalism and how ~cool he was (and even got a couple of requests for more info in case they wanted to engage him themselves).
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we would do it all over again if we could!

Eugene captured our ROM and wedding day beautifully and we were very pleased! There’s a magic to his photos for they are wonderfully candid and not too overdone or staged. Every time we look through them, we find new favourites. Weddings can get super loud/chaotic/messy but somehow he finds a way to capture some really tender moments which we may have missed or not paid much attention to. It’s a treat to be able to remember or revisit these moments through his photos.
It also helps that we were really comfortable with him - it was easy to get along with him cos he’s genuine, down to earth and personable. Shoutout to Erin too, who was always responsive to our queries. Both of them went the extra mile for us and made us feel so well taken care of. Thanks so much you guys, we are so grateful!

My wife was ADAMANT about getting Eugene to shoot for our PWS and Actual Wedding Day after stalking Bottled Groove for some time. To be honest, I wanted to please her at that point so I rushed to secure a booking. Thankfully, we managed to book his time before other requests for the same day came flooding in thereafter. It was single-handedly the best decision we've made for our entire wedding journey.
Eugene was... atypical. Not that I've had many wedding experiences before but one can tell that he's beyond dedicated and passionate about his craft. What really sets him apart is the way he conducts the shoots. He constantly tries to think out of the box to conjure unique shots while keeping the process very enjoyable and candid for the couple. It definitely did not feel like a run-of-the-mill or cookie cutter type of wedding photography experience. He felt more like a friend accompanying us on this hectic journey of getting married and I think the ease of having him around really translated to very genuine and memorable photos. The outcome was a slew of very very very real photos which really captured the essence of the day's events meaningfully. Sometimes I feel like I've time travelled back to the actual day itself while browsing through his photos. Thank you Eugene!

When we asked our friends about their wedding day, many shared that most of it was a blur.
We decided to look for a photographer who would not only capture memories that would last, but also moments we might have missed. On top of that, we were hoping for someone who could give us creative direction while keeping things as natural and candid as possible.
As we scrolled through Eugene’s work, we immediately fell in love with his photos and secretly wished we had discovered him before our PWS. I personally enjoyed his captions too - some moved me; others made me lol.
Before the actual day, Eugene and his wife, Erin, went through our schedule and they were so thorough, Eugene ended up remembering our schedule better than we did (oops).
Professional and personable are two words which best describe Eugene. We appreciated the way he got everyone organised for group photos. It is never easy handling a crowd, especially those who are a little lost or less mobile, but Eugene handled it like a pro. Throughout the day, he remained attentive, polite, and easy-going, making everyone feel right at home. In particular, he displayed great patience with a family friend who was a very enthusiastic amateur photographer. He graciously directed everyone to look at our family friend’s camera before he took his turn.
Our family members were also deeply impressed by the attention Eugene paid to intimate details - like how our 5-year-old ring bearer was getting tired and needed a break. This attention to detail and genuine concern for others is reflected in his photos. Our wedding album was far from a collection of photos but an honest reflection of what took place that day, and a narrative we could relive as the day unfolded all over again.
Our photoshoots, while very brief, were great fun! Although we are not used to posing for pictures, we felt so comfortable trying out Eugene's ideas. He kept us so focused on the conversations we were having with each other and our loved ones, we nearly forgot he was there!
We could go on raving all day but prefer to let Eugene's amazing work speak for itself!

Working with Dexter for our wedding photography was one of the key highlights of our wedding.
During the pre-wedding session, one can tell that Dexter is fantastic at collaboration. He works with our ideas and brings them to life by recommending locations, leveraging his vast knowledge of any venue-specific restrictions, and proposing outfit suggestions. During the actual day, Dexter shone by directing the photo-taking where necessary (i.e., instructing family members on poses and positions) but also blending into the background and capturing quiet moments based on the situation.
The result has been fantastic - intimate and candid pictures that capture a range of human emotions as the wedding day unfolded. Very aligned with our moodboard and ideas.

It's been exactly a year since we engaged Eugene from Bottled Groove Photography and even after a year we still feel compelled to write this review (we've been procrastinating because...life!) because it was one of the best decisions we made. We had a grand plan to get everything done overseas but alas, it was not meant to be due to the pandemic. So we kind of scrambled to put something together in Singapore, something small, intimate and cozy at home, and we're so lucky that Eugene was still available for short bookings on our planned date considering how we didn't book months in advance. He made everyone feel really comfortable but special mention to the outdoor shoot as he brought along his speakers and we had music to fill the potentially awkward moments of silence but it wasn't really necessary in the end as it was so easy to talk to Eugene (he says he's an introvert but I think he did a brilliant job connecting with us and also keeping up the energy to hype us up throughout the shoot!) His story about pursuing his passion was also very inspiring!! Anyway, the music ended up playing a more important role in creating the atmosphere and mood (which we really appreciated!) for the shoot rather than its initial purpose :P
It was not easy to find a photographer that had a similar style (e.g. storytelling/documenting > posey shots) to the one we had initially engaged with (she's based overseas in the country we had initially planned to wed in) so we're soooo glad we stumbled upon Eugene and his portfolio! The photos turned out really well and we still gush over them up till this day :)
Can I also say, he actually sent us sneaks on the day itself a few hours after he left the event!? LOVE IT! Also, please check out his amazing wife/florist @erinflorals!! Thank you for everything, Eugene! :)

As a creatively challenged guy, I never understood my wife's need to obsessively vet the wedding photographer. "Aren't all photographers the same", I thought, as she showed me the Instagram profile of yet another photographer.
Oh how wrong I was. Eugene was able to perfectly capture "our style" on the wedding day and I absolutely loved the photos, which is saying something because I've never "absolutely loved" any photos. Moreover, his work ethic is amazing, sending us previews of the photos on the day itself and the full set 2 weeks later.
Get Eugene as your wedding photographer, and just let him do his thing. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Could not rate Levin any higher. He was extremely patient with us and was someone we could rely upon to capture our day! He has an incredible eye, and shot and delivered our photos with such professionalism. Eugene is the guy with the genius eye and has great sense for details! Stumbled upon Bottled Groove Photography's page as we were searching for simple, intimate weddings during the covid season.. was instantly sold as we found him storytelling a simple solemnization by capturing the little details of the day - from the venue / scene to the littlest human interactions. And of course he did exactly that for our small and rather laidback wedding! He knew what exactly to do, from bringing a light for our make shift 'stage' area, to moving a flower arrangement ever so slightly to make space. The pictures had nice compositions, a soft film touch and the candid street photography type thing going on (which we really dig). Such a pleasure to have Eugene cover our little happy evening and would do it many times more if we had the chance to :)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Honestly the best decision we made for the wedding. We wanted a photographer who not only took 'nice photos' but also capture the raw emotions and that is exactly what Eugene has done for us. Getting married during Covid was definitely not easy due to the restrictions in place. On the day itself, we felt like we couldn't be as present as we would like to be. Thankfully we had Eugene to photograph these moments for us and these will forever be something we'll treasure and look back fondly on in future. Meowing good time
We had arranged Eugene from the Bottled Groove Company for our tropical and small solemnisation at Botanic Gardens. The first contact was swift, welcoming and professional via Zoom. On our wedding day, Eugene was absolutely calm and creative. All guests were amazed by his nature and skills. He was in the background but at the same time snapping every key moment. I wonder how he did it… After receiving the first batch of photos we were blown away, so was the family back home. Price value, quality of photos and creativity is unbeatable. If you’re looking for unique and awesome memories, I highly recommend Eugene and his company.
I was so happy to find a photographer who doesn’t snap the old fashioned way hahaha :)

We engaged Bottle Groove for our pre-wedding and actual day shoot, and we were very happy that we found them as they ticked all the right boxes for what we were looking for.
Eugene was very responsive and got back to us quickly upon receiving our enquiries. As we were looking at a popular date in a short time span, we were happy and relieved that they could accommodate us. The hub was coming from overseas and amid the pandemic situation, there were many uncertainties but the team at Bottle Groove was very flexible and tried their best to fulfil all our requests. We managed to get our pre-wedding photos earlier and the prints were beautiful!
Our photographer, Levin, is like a gentle giant who’s amiable and fun to communicate with. He’s reliable (always early!), experienced and very accommodating. Bottled Groove Photography is really worth recommended. Eugene is responsive and professional and he would guide you and your partner throughout the photo session, especially for the camera-shy couples!
I would like express my sincere feelings through this review. I had my PWS with Eugene in August and my husband and I enjoyed it and everything went so smoothly. Eugene will leave it up to the couples to make the choice of destinations for PWS, with comments or suggestions accepted as long as it is not too ridiculous. Eugene is quite easy-going, amiable and humorous. That’s why we really enjoyed the pre-wedding session.
If you look for fun and natural photography, Bottled Groove Photography is definitely the first choice! It’s really 100% recommended! If you looking for a responsible photographer, Eugene is definitely worth recommended!

Engaging Eugene as our photographer for both our PWS and AD is easily one of the best decisions we have made for our wedding. My then-fiancé and I can be pretty awkward in front of cameras but Eugene never failed to make us feel comfortable during shoots, even when he’s strapping multiple cameras and sweating buckets himself. His dedication and keen eye for details are attributes that really shone through in the pictures he took for us and also for our family/wedding party/guests.

Cartwheeling fun
When choosing the photographer for our engagement (pre-wedding) shots, we struggled a lot. We wanted a fun, casual, spontaneous session but most of the wedding photographers were very formal in their style.
We are so thankful to find Eugene at Bottled Groove Photography. He tailored the experience exactly to our style, encouraging us to be silly and natural. We had one location where another bride and groom were shooting a very serious, sombre, shot in full formal wear next to us. We were so thankful in contrast that Eugene encouraged us to do literal cartwheels and keep being our goofy selves.
I've seen Eugene's more formal shots as well, and they are equally gorgeous, candid, and dreamy. His signature style still shows through, whether in casual clothes in front of HDB block backdrops or getting dressed up for the biggest day of your life.

After browsing through numerous portfolios online, we decided to contact Bottled Groove Photo and engage them as our pre-wed photographer. Eugene replied us in a heartbeat with his availability and rates.
Although it was our first time being photographed by someone (we would usually bring our trusty tripod), we did not feel awkward throughout the entire photoshoot. Eugene was able to capture candid moments of us as he encouraged us to embrace our quirkiness and we really really really had a ton of fun!

Be yourselves
Candid, creative, and charismatic - that's what I'd say of both Eugene and his photography. It was exactly what we were looking for in our pre-wedding session. We didn't want to go for what we viewed as the tacky, typical and hyper-stylised shots as part of some random wedding package - and boy, did we choose the right guy for the job! We'd plenty of fun.

Eugene's vision also bowled us over during the semi-experimental shoot we asked for, he was inventive, yet it was telling that he packed many years of experience in both digital and film cameras he carried in his trustworthy sling. One of our best decisions we made for the wedding is engaging Eugene! 🥰 During our first meeting, he showed us his portfolio and talked us through his creative process. I was immediately sold. His photographs told stories about the relationships between the people, and captured the little interactions that are easily overlooked. I was almost moved to tears by how emotionally compelling the storytelling was. As much as I appreciate looking at photos, I don’t really like to take pictures, but Eugene has a very comforting and lighthearted presence that made the shoots during the actual day fun and easy. We are also really thankful that he also took on additional roles, like keeping time, directing the tea ceremony, and entertaining the grannies which helped to smoothen the process and get things moving.
During the months leading up to the wedding, Eugene would check in with us and keep us updated about the latest covid-wedding related news. It was nice that it helped us to be mutually assured that we were not forgotten. I love that his edits accentuated the sweet and dreamy ambience of the sunsetting beach.

Reaching out to Eugene is more of an instinct initially, when my then-fiance and I were looking through a long list of photographers. After meeting him through video chat, we've decided that he's our guy because of how pleasant he is. It may seem like an unimportant factor because photography is about the photos but after planning and going through my own wedding, I can't stress the importance of a fuss-free and pleasant vendor.

Adventures with the young and the young at heart
100/100 rating!
Eugene's artistic direction was what first caught my attention. I like his candid, non-pretentious photos that captures every moment. On your wedding day, you will not be able to witness even half of what is going on, hence a good photographer that is able to capture moments and people are very important.
I got all the shots of the important people around me from ranging from funny to emotional, and sometimes a little quirky. With that I am able to have a full sense of what went down during the event, and it gave me a lot of comfort. Service is like all the other reviews, prompt response and delivery of photos.
For both PWS and AD, we have gotten our preview photos within few hours! Kudos to Eugene's professionlism and understanding of the couple's eagerness to see the photos.
We had held our wedding in a family church, a structure that is not common to most weddings. Our church is similar to a private estate, built like a home, and I was utterly amazed that Eugene was able to find spots to photograph us in. I could not imagine my church can be so beautiful! He really did went around to scout for spots and able to think fast. That is another good criteria, to be able to handle different environments well.
Lastly , a good sense of understanding the couple relations likes and dislikes. Eugene knows I love my dog and my church, thus he made the effort to capture my dog in photographs. I encourage interested parties to contact Eugene!

The most consistent comment that came out of our wedding was “Your photographer is really good”. Needless to say, we were more than pleased with Eugene's photos and his brilliant service. My wife and I were initially drawn to Eugene's naturalistic approach to photography and the general feel of his imagery, which often has an air of effortless charm and beauty.
During our pre-wedding shoot, Eugene directed us but also made us feel very comfortable. He is able to capture authentic moments that shine through – I think that is incredibly difficult and speaks to his expertise and experience.
We are also very impressed by Eugene's work ethic and his dedication to his work. He makes it a point to turn around preview photos within the next day so that you will get a sense of how the photos turned out.
During our actual wedding, our friends and family commended his amicable personality, which made everyone feel at ease while being photographed. We were very happy when we receive our wedding photos, as it captured precious moments of our big day.
Last but not least, Eugene charges very reasonably, especially for the incredible work and excellent service. We are very fortunate to have engaged him as our photographer!

It’s important to find one with a style that you like. It’s important to find one that you can be comfortable around with, comfy enough to do stupid things and BE YOURSELF! Eugene encapsulates all these characteristics that Don & I were searching for. Believe me, we went through plenty of websites / Instagram profiles / web books & portfolios before we chanced upon this dude! I call it fate!
In terms of photography, I love how he concentrated not just on the bride and groom but also on our loved ones. Their expressions, their moments captured are truly precious. I was busy that day, I’d missed out on the behind the scenes but I got to see it now, it’s as if in real time.
In terms of communication, he’s literally a friend now, not just to me but to a couple of my bridesmaids as well! I’m glad they had so much fun with him around!

I had an amazing experience with Eugene for my actual day photography. Eugene is the best photographer I can ask for - sincere, friendly, approachable, with an impeccable style which I LOVE. I love how unconventional and interesting his photos are - which was what I was looking for.

I am an ala carte bride because I was pretty fussy about the photos/ videos for the AD. The wedding process is irreversible and it is all about the raw moments. No retakes, no pre-empts. We have to entrust the task to the right one!
We scoured through many photographers' portfolio and finally decided on Eugene for his photography style and of course, his eye for details. And he doesn't disappoint at all :)
We met up with Eugene & Erin for kopi last year to put a face to the name (haha) and also to discuss more on the AD details. Awkward as we were, we had zero details on how our AD is going to be. They were both super friendly and shared with us loads of wedding prep tips!

He was like a ninja on stealth mode for my wedding day capturing many, many memorable shots. I wonder how he did it all alone, but this guy managed to create magic and teleport with all his heavy-duty cameras slung on his shoulders. Even though my wedding was almost a month ago, I still browse through my PWS photos from time to time.
I must highlight that our pre-wedding shot is one of a kind because we spent almost 13 hours shooting at three different locations in Singapore. One of them is on the yacht which we even went all the way to St. John Island. Yes, it’s very tiring for us already not to mention the photographer who’s carrying the equipment around. He did not complain at all, and yet we always see him very passionate at what he is doing which kept us excited, and it’s enjoyable shooting by him.
A piece of advice to all the btb, you only hold your wedding only once, and you want to pick the best. Hence, I strongly recommend Bottled Groove photography as your best choice.
